NATURAL no heat no treatment corundum (ruby and sapphire) is defined as follows: found in or on the Earth formed completely by nature, without human intervention, except cutting, carving and / or polishing.

PLEOCHROISM denotes a shift in color in different lighting conditions: where a stone shows variable colors depending on the viewing angle. Experts judge the color change phenomena on a scale from weak to moderate to strong, with the strongest color changes being the most prized. PLEOCHROISM  is the term used to describe the color variation for destructive interference with the polarization direction of the light, which depends on the orientation of the material in the light path and is a characteristic of anisotropic materials only.

goldberry’s NATURAL corundum (ruby and sapphire) is certified by one or more of the following laboratories (country of origin may be included) and is indicated by: GIA (Gemological Institute of America), AGTA (American Gem Trade Association), AGS (American Gem Society), AGL (American Gemological Laboratories), IGI (International Gemological Institute), GRS (Gem Research Swisslab) or GGL (Gübelin Gemological Laboratories). goldberry’s policy is complete disclosure on all of our rubies, sapphires and emeralds.  

Ruby and sapphire is commonly heated to increase clarity and color.  goldberry carries no diffused artificial color beryllium treated corundum (ruby and sapphire).  goldberry carries no lead-glass treated or composite ruby.
